His first season at North Carolina did not go to plan, finishing 2025 at 4-8 (2-6 in ACC play) - that's worse than their record the year before he arrived at 6-6.
And there were plenty of headlines along the way, including a blow out loss to Clemson and a suspended GM, who Belichick himself hired.
There is also a lawsuit regarding irregularities in how Belichick was hired.
All of these factors have added fuel to rumors Belichick could leave the team before the new season, with many fans believing a blank slate is needed.
However, both Belichick and athletic director Bill Cunningham have denied reports of an exit strategy being arranged so odds remain low.
Update: This market has settled No. Belichick coached UNC's season opener, a 15-10 win over TCU in Dublin on August 29, and remained head coach past the September 1 cutoff. The market closed at just 1% on Kalshi.

How This Resolves

This market resolves Yes if Bill Belichick is fired or steps down as North Carolina's head coach on or before Sep 1, 2026. It resolves No if he remains in the role past that date, regardless of the team's performance to that point.
Kalshi's own wording: "If the head coach of the North Carolina College Football team leaves, or announces they will leave, before Sep 1, 2026, then the market resolves to Yes."
