Freedom isn't alone in his stunt. Royce White, another former NBA pro, has also declared himself eligible for the draft. Last month, he showed up at an Indiana Fever game sporting a blonde wig. He claimed he was there to "scout some of the competition" and support the league.
According to the Associated Press, a source close to the matter has claimed that Freedom and White are not eligible for the league. The anonymous source did not, however, explain why they were ineligible.
The topic shot into the headlines again this week after false reports began circling that trans basketball player Julie Tetart had declared for the draft. In fact, the French player told outlet Outkick that she would not refuse the opportunity to play if a WNBA team got in touch, but said nothing about declaring for the draft.
