Enes Kanter Freedom is dominating headlines at the moment. The retired NBA player recently shot back into the spotlight after declaring himself eligible to play for the WNBA, but his odds of actually being drafted have tanked after he made a jibe at one of its top stars.
It might sound like something out of a fiction book, but Freedom declared himself eligible for the WNBA draft this month, along with fellow retired NBA star Royce White. The two men have made it clear that they are protesting trans participation in the league, for which the rules are not immediately clear.
Odds for Freedom to actually be drafted for the league reached as high as 31% on Polymarket when the 34-year-old announced his intentions on X. They swiftly sank to 7%, where they remained fairly steady for about a week until tanking to 2% on Monday night.

The descent came just hours after an X post from Freedom, in which he took shots at the WNBA's Angel Reese and NBA's Paul George. He wrote: "Once I go No.1 pick in the 2027 WNBA Draft, the first player I'm dunking on is Angel Reese." Freedom didn't stop there though, he labeled Reese "the Paul George of the WNBA," and urged her to "lean into the podcast already."
When he first declared for the WNBA, Freedom said: "I am definitely not here to mock, make fun of, or disrespect any community or personal choices." However, many in the comments have taken issue with Freedom firing shots at the two players.
Among the reactions, some pointed out that George is still an active player in the NBA, playing as Power Forward for the Boston Celtics. @213Clipset said: "Paul George's toenails have more talent than u bum." Others came to defend Reese, including @CookedbyRiley who told Freedom to "watch your mouth" when mentioning the Atlanta Dream star.
In light of the media attention surrounding Freedom and White's stunt, the WNBA met to discuss the trans issue. As PredictCentr reported, they did not arrive on any rules and instead announced they "strongly denounce the bad-faith efforts to use these topics to demean and marginalize others."
