Season 28 of the US version of Big Brother premiered on CBS on July 9 with 14 first-time contestants. This year is a little different though - subtitled 'Time Trip', it also features three surprise crossover/return guests, such as Survivor winner Dee Valladares.
Until very recently, Valladares has held a comfortable lead in the odds for Big Brother winner, leading second-place favorite Rick Devens (another Survivor alum). But now as we enter Week 9 of the programme, things have flipped on their head as Yash Patel is now the clear favorite to win overall at 31% with Polymarket.
Patel's surge to the top of the Kalshi and Polymarket rankings has coincided with a dominant display in the Veto challenges. He has won the Power of Veto three times, and each time he has earned the right to save someone from eviction. After winning again in Week 8, he managed to take himself off the chopping block for eviction, and was replaced by Rick Devens.

Patel has shown a serious dominance in challenges, something that propelled Dee Valladares to the top spot early on in the season. Dee earned the Head of Household spot herself and as a result got to pick nominees. On top of losing her frontrunner status, this week Valladares is 52% to be evicted as per Polymarket, just ahead of Rick Devens.
The twists in the tale don't stop there though. Patel has also promised some houseguests that he would protect them if he wins Head of Household. That promise got exposed to the whole house, but Patel doubled down on this and won Veto in what was described as a kind of "revenge" move.
Valladares is now just 8% to win overall with Polymarket, while Devens is now above her on 10%. Barrett Pfeiffer has topped both the former favorites by shooting up to second place at 20%.
